Goble Palms is as good a value five-star guest house as you are likely to find: it really is amazingly well-priced. Located in the residential suburb of Morningside, near the shops and restaurants of Windermere Road, it’s a great base whilst in Durban. It comprises two Edwardian houses in a small but dense garden that seems to cut off the outside world. The rooms stick to the Edwardian heritage, giving Goble Palms a genteel air. It is also very welcoming, as there’s always a cold beer or a glass of sherry on hand to enjoy sunk deep into one of the sofas in a lounge, or whilst relaxing on the balcony, watching dusk settle over the Indian Ocean.
