Day 1

Fly overnight to Cape Town.

Day 2

Collect your hire car on arrival OR be met by one of our representatives and start with four nights in Cape Town. Cape Town has got a huge range of wonderful hotels, from grand, luxurious affairs, to smaller, more characterful guesthouses and B&Bs.

Day 3

Spend a full day exploring the beautiful Cape Peninsula. It’s particularly rewarding to explore the hidden beaches and paths as well as the headline sights like Cape Point and the penguins of Boulder’s Beach.

Day 4

Take a Uthando project tour to learn more about the townships and how people are seeking to improve their lot there. We have also compiled a list of our favourite restaurants in Cape Town and we’d be happy to make recommendations and reserve tables for you.

Day 5

Robben Island and Table Mountain are two of the city's icon and combine to make a great day.

Day 6

Drive to the Winelands spending two nights here. Choose from intimate guesthouses to luxurious hotels with their own vineyard to stay in.

Day 7

Both Stellenbosh and Franschhoek have a wine hopper/ tram to transport you around a number of vineyards, tasting your way through the variety of wines this region has to offer.

Day 8

Drive to the Overberg, an overnight stop on your way east; if you set off early enough, you can squeeze a visit to the De Hoop Nature Reserve into your day. The town of Swellendam, although small, has a number of beautiful boutique hotels and guesthouses, making it the ideal place to break your journey to the Garden Route.

Day 9

Continue to the Garden Route, where you spend three nights. Choose from hotels on the beach, in the heart of the pretty towns, or on secluded islands and in the forests that carpet the hills of the region.

Day 10

There are some amazing excursions to fill your days with on the Garden Route. We particularly recommend, in season, whale watching (June – December) or perhaps exploring the back roads in the forests.

Day 11

We’d always recommend you take a day to head to the Crags near Plettenberg Bay and visit the Elephant Sanctuary, Monkeyland, the Birds of Eden and the Tenikwa Big Cat Experience. Here you’ll also find Bramon, the Garden Route’s only wine estate and somewhere that serves an amazing tapas lunch!

Day 12

As you head to the Eastern Cape for your safari, maybe stop in the Tsitsikamma Forest or on the dizzying Bloukrans Bridge. Spend two nights on safari where there are a range of lodges to choose from, to suit all budgets and tastes: but wherever you stay, excitement is guaranteed!

Day 13

Safari is hugely rewarding, with game drives getting you incredibly close to the big game, and bush walks introducing you to the smaller residents of the bush.

Day 14

Drop your car off at Port Elizabeth airport before flying home overnight, via Johannesburg.

For those who only have two weeks off, this tour ensures you get a proper feel for the country, experiencing something of everything that South Africa has to offer. Cape Town is an integral part of any trip to South Africa and so you start in this cosmopolitan and beautifully-located city exploring the classics such as Table Mountain and Robben Island. Just a short drive out of the city you reach the stunning Winelands, a landscape filled with a plethora of vineyards all showcasing the best of their grape varieties. You have the popular destinations of Franschhoek and Stellenbosch, but for those looking for something more revered and secluded head to Paarl or Robertson. Stopping to explore the underrated Overberg area you can visit such places as the De Hoop Nature Reserve, immersing yourself in absolute tranquillity. You’ll also get a flavour of some of the local South African wildlife as the reserve is home to herds of bontebok, eland and zebra, as well as marine life and birding. From the Overberg, you reach the Garden Route where you have a few nights to explore the nature trails, relax by the beach and see the remarkable work of the local animal sanctuaries, before continuing to the Eastern Cape Safaris for the true safari encounter.
