Elephant House offers an alternative way to do safari in the Eastern Cape, without being based in the reserves themselves, and without having all of your activities, food and drink included in the price: making it a very affordable way to explore the region. You can choose to partake of their safari drives to a number of surrounding reserves, and pay locally, or alternatively self-drive into the Addo Elephant National Park. You also have the choice of eating elsewhere, although the food at Elephant House is very tasty! The two storey traditional thatched settler house is decorated in simple, unpretentious style, with the emphasis on homely comfort. Wide verandahs boast deep sofas and the walls are decorated with African and settler-inspired art and pictures. As a way to enjoy the Eastern Cape with greater flexibility, and for considerably less money, than going to a private game reserve, Elephant House really is a great option.
